HUNKER, DAMN IT!

Observe a smattering of our amazing Hurricane Ike essentials. Not shown: water, batteries, flashlights, floaties, noodles, flares, big sign that says, "TAKE A HIKE, IKE", dominoes, shot glasses, and defense baseball bat - for the looters.

Its about 1:30am and amazingly our power has yet to go out. Winds are at 70mph out there - yikes. But we're here, "hunkering down", keeping safe and enjoying the A/C - for now, that is. Thank you all so much for your well wishes, and I'll continue the blog to its regularly scheduled programming on Monday.

As a former south Florida resident of many years, I definitely have seen more than my fair share of hurricanes and know how frightening and destructive they can be. I hope you are safe. My younger brother who lives in Houston went to stay with his fiancée in Dallas Firday after work and won't be returning to Houston until Sunday night or Monday morning. His bosses informed everyone who worked there that they were expected to be at work Monday, like any other day.

Am sure you faired worse than we did. Did NOT know Ike would make it to central Ohio. 75 mph winds gusting to 100 mph. Trees down everywhere. Electricity reported to be out for a week or more in some places. YIKES. Hope you made it through OK! Just dropped in to say "hi" from Entrecard

A bat for looters? Great idea, did you get to whack anyone?

It looks like you're set for Ike. I hope you guys are safe. Love your Take a Hike Ike sign! Unfortunately Ike hiked his tush up to me in Ohio and sent us 70 Mph winds. Doesn't he know this is tornado country, not hurricane country?!

We were not as prepared as you. No wine, in a box or otherwise.

My favorite item is your box of wine! I need to add that to my emergency kit!
I'm glad you guys have made it through and that Ike has moved on.

All of you guys KICK ASS! Thank you so much, ya'll. And yes, a box of wine is extremely essential (and extremely likely to give me horrible hangovers). Pick one up the next time a natural disaster decides to take aim at your city.
