The devil's drink

Today's theme for doodle week is water:

And yes, that is a bottle of water in hell. I personally feel that bottled water not only causes tons and tons of waste, it also makes us pay for a basic human right. Yes, bottled water is a necessity in third world countries and in emergency situations, but I believe we can combat that need and find a better solution. YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! Oh wait, that's Obama's slogan, isn't it? I'm sure he wont mind if I borrow it for this post.

Learn more about bottled water here and here.

I agree with you about paying for the water, and I am sure Obama won't mind you giving him some extra free campaign promotion!

frankly, when I'm in hell (and I will be, you know) I won't care WHO makes the damn water! I will need me some.

Rick - thank you?

Petra - Yeah! Obama will have ME to thank when he wins the election! Hahahahahha ;)

Vodka Mom - LOL seriously!

Awww, but why pick on Ozarka? That's a company that was founded in Eureka Springs -- in good ol' Arkansas.

Well, it was bought by Nestle.

You can pick on the Swiss all you want.

So just, like, never mind...

Hmmm, reading your links about bottled water was interesting (and thought provoking). I'd never really considered the environmental impact of bottled water before. I actaully learned something today (thx)... I knew there was reason I spend so much time in the blog-sphere, I just KNEW IT!

Hawg - lol, no real reason other than Ozarka was the easiest label to draw! And I didn't know Nestle owned it...gross!

Leigh Anne - That's always my excuse when I spend too much time on the net - it's educational! Glad I could provoke a thought or two :)

I agree with you totally about the bottled water.

I like the political doodling :)

I'm with ya sister. It scares me the idea of privatising/monetenising water as well as the waste that the bottles create.

You do cool Doodles! We don't do bottled water at all!

The bottled water thing is funny. People pay more for water than for the gas in their cars these days. Yet the water is pretty much free from the tap and likely the very same water they are buying bottled. I've bought bottled water when traveling. But, before we had bottled water I would have brought along something like a canteen to keep filled. When did we stop doing that and start just throwing away bottles each time.

I'd seriously lose my mind if I couldn't drink my water out of the tap any more. we're so lucky to have that luxury.

Interesting take on the prompt! Super doodle! I have a fridge with water and ice in the door and a water filter. We only buy bottled water during emergencies. Hurricanes can be nasty. I'm sure you'll forgive us, right?

Well, I don't like bottled water and the gazillion bottles filling every nook and cranny on the planet.

But our alternative in my lil ole spot of the big D/FW is tap water coming to us from a man-made lake that allows motorized boating. This is the first place we have ever lived that allows gasoline and oil powered watercraft on the community's water supply.

And I've wondered why I have met so many people with chronic illness since moving here 15 years ago.

Buy stock in Pur and Britta!

UGH! Everywhere I go, people are making me feel guilty, and they are quite right to do so. I looked at one of those nice aluminium water bottles and a Britta water filter yesterday. I'm trying to break my habit. I just love the idea of fresh, untouched water.

I am TRYING!

I only ever drink bottled water on holiday where the tap water might be 'iffy'!

Good doodle and message!

If you could see the massive amounts of bottled water I have in my house you would want to flog me.

But in my defense, I live here in Texass, and the water tastes nasty as hell. I can't enjoy enjoy it when I am out at a restaurant or when I get some fast food. It's just gross!!!

I still love the doodle though.

claire - thank you!

Zip 'n' Tizzy - seriously. first, water, then what? Are they gonna start making us pay for......huh. Actually I think they've covered it all. Damn.

Sam & Tigger - Yay!!!

Laura - I know! It seems to be one of those things people dont really think much about.

Chat blanc - ditto, sister.

Willthink4wine - Go you! I do think bottled water in emergencies is a necessity, especially if you live in disaster prone areas!

Hilary - that is awful! I cant believe that! Truly disgusting, and girl, I would definitely take the brita tap/bottled water option over that nastiness any day!

JD - lol, making an effort is the first step :)

Akelamalu - yeah...probably best to do that!

Monique - Girl, I live in Texas, too, so I can agree. Go get one of those nifty brita tap thingies...they're all the rage these days :)

I am so with you on the bottled water, and cans, and boxes. Tap it!
